With the support of the European Solidarity Corps and the Erasmus+ program, the Young Professional Board of SWOM took a major step in expanding its activities. Because of the growing demand from our target group (young professionals with disabilities), we set out to create a project that strengthened their position in the labour market and beyond.
Over the course of the project (September 2022 – October 2023), with u200bErasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps, we organised multiple workshops aimed at personal and professional development. Each session welcomed around 15 participants and provided them with learning new skills that is applicable in their daily lives.
The impact of the workshops were:
- Improved proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, leading to more efficient work habits;
- Increased confidence in asserting themselves and persuading others;
- Better understanding of work-life balance strategies;
- Opportunities to expand their network, with many participants continuing to stay in touch.
This project didn’t just benefit the attendees, it also had a profound effect on the Young Professional Board members who organised it. They gained hands-on experience in:
- Project management & planning;
- Creativity & problem-solving;
- Teamwork & collaboration;
- Leadership & responsibility;
- Boosted self-confidence.
By taking charge of this initiative, the YP Board members developed crucial skills that will help them in their future careers.
The success of this project goes beyond just numbers: it has helped foster inclusion, create new opportunities, and empower young professionals to take charge of their own growth. With projects like these, we continue to build a future where talent is recognized, opportunities are accessible, and no one is left behind.
